The South Gate Church was formed in 1949. A new church was dedicated in 1961. A recent graduate Rev. Mel Bailey became the church’s first Minister and retired in 1980. At Knox College’s graduation service in 1990 Mel, our historian, was bestowed the doctorate degree becoming Dr. Mel Bailey and Robert Geddes, a graduate that same evening would become South Gate’s next Minister. The South Gate Church continue to “serve God by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
